Exploring the Core
Sunday June 9, 2019 | 9:00AM-11:00AM
When we talk about strengthening or working the core in yoga, what do we actually mean? Is there more to the core than just the abdominal muscles?
In this workshop, we delve deeper into building and maintaining a strong core both in our yoga practice and in other activities. We will take the time to bring awareness and understanding into the deeper muscles of the torso as well as the impact of health on the organs.
We will unpack how all core muscles are interconnected to other parts of the body and how these muscles can work together for optimum movement. This workshop will explore useful and safe ways of accessing our ‘core’ muscles through discussion, breath work and asana flow.

Pillars of Mindful Back Bending
Saturday December 15, 2018 6PM-8PM
Back bends build strength and flexibility in the wrists, arms, legs, buttocks and spine. At the same time they stretch the front of the abdomen, hips, thighs, shoulders and chest. Backward bending stretches and releases the muscles of the chest allowing circulation to flow freely to the heart and lungs. The nervous system and digestive system are also stimulated, building heat and stimulating metabolism. Backbends can create a lot of tension and anxiety in practitioners because they are physically demanding and emotionally charged.
